Friday Afternoon October 13, 1933 Peace Justice Holds Verdict in Man's Death Justice of the Peace Perry Meredith Friday said he was inclined to believe the story of Ed Claunch to the effect that the man who burned to death in a Magnolia Courts tourist cabin early Thursday morning was his brother, Robert Emmett Claunch, 27. Justice Meredith has not rendered his decision on the inquest, but said that all indication now seemed to be that the story told by Ed Claunch was correct. This was to the effect he had taken his brother, who was intoxicated, home to Greggton, but that he must have returned to the cabin during the night. Funeral services for the burned man were to be held at 2 p.m. Friday from Welch's Funeral home with burial to follow in Grace Hill cemetery. One other brother, Dick Claunch, of Kilgore survives. The charred body was found in the ruins of the burned cabin, by the Longview Fire Department, which arrived in time to prevent spread of the fire to other cabins.
