Cox, Alfred Newton Funeral services for Alfred Newton Cox, 82, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2006, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Cox passed away Friday, August 4, 2006, in Longview. He was born January 6, 1924, in Corsicana, Texas, to James Emory and Ida Jewel Stiddem Cox. He retired From Centerpoint Energy/Entex after more than 39 years of service. He served under Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church, and he loved fishing and taking his sons skiing at Lake O' the Pines. He married Billie Kate Crocker on July 20, 1947, and she survives him. Other survivors include three sons, Emory Dean Cox and wife, Betty, Leslie Wayne Cox and John Allen Cox; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jimmie Cox Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, LaVern Vaughn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 E.
