Carter, Howard Robinson Howard Robinson Carter, beloved husband, father and grandfather, as well as friend to many, passed on April 8, 2007. Howard was born November 11, 1932, in Columbus, Ga.. to Helen North and Howard Robinson Carter, who preceded him in death, and became a loving stepson to Dorothy Weber Carter, who also preceded him in death. Howard received his education at Lake Charles High School in Louisiana, Duke University and Tulane University. After serving two years in the U.S. Navy, he joined IBM, retiring after 31 years of service. Howard is survived by Nancy Nordyke Carter, his loving wife of 54 years; son, Stephen Lee, daughter-in-law, Charlotte Garcia, granddaughter Camille and grandson Barrett, of Houston; daughters, Sabra Lynn and Cathleen Adele of San Diego, Calif.; and son, David Weber, daughter-in-law, Pam Koska and grandson, John, of Knoxville, Tenn. Other surviving family include his brother-in-law, Harry Gail Nordyke and his family; and uncle-in-law, Freeman King and his family. Family and friends will gather for a memorial celebration of Howard's life at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, in the Garden Court at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road in Longview. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Hospice, Habitat For Humanity or the charity of your choice in your region.
