Christian, Bennie Lee Services for Bennie Lee Christian, 98, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, at St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church, with Pastor David Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Ms. Christian passed away Thursday afternoon at her home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6-8 p.m. Bennie was born March 31, 1909, in Mount Selman, Texas, to James and Allie Bruner. She moved to Longview in 1919. Bennie was a lifelong member of the Christian church. She married Earl Sessum Christian in September of 1926. When Sessum was drafted in World War II, Bennie began working at McIntosh Drug. She worked at the drug store until she retired in 1961. Bennie was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Sessum Christian, in 1995; parents; three brothers, Roy, Maxey and James Bruner; two sisters-in-law, Jewel and Dorothy Bruner; and grandson William Dan Furge. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bill Furge and Mary Louise and Bill Sanderford; one granddaughter, Ann Furge Keller and her husband, Dwight; five grandsons, John and Glenn Furge, Chris, Jeff and Doug Sanderford; two great-grandsons, Sam Keller and Christian Sanderford; one sister, Mozelle Mattix; "adopted" daughter, Joretta Williams and her husband, Wade; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many wonderful friends of Page Place.
