UNKNOWN - WELCH FUNERAL HOME BUT FOUND NO INFO ON A CEMETERY Creamer, John D. Services for John D. Creamer, of Longview, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Gregg Zackary and the Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Mr. Creamer went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at a local medical center while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Creamer was born October 31, 1924, in Commerce, to Fred and Esther Creamer. He was a United States Army veteran of the 164th Infantry in the Americal Division, having served during World War II an in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Creamer received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals while on tour. He married Rose La Verne Patrick in Commerce on February 8, 1947. They moved to Tyler in 1949, where he attended Tyler Commercial College and received his Federal Communications License. He went to work in Longview for Southwestern Bell in 1951, installing telephones and two wave radios in cars, along with keeping up transmitters and land receivers in North and East Texas. He was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after working 36 years as an estimate assigner. Mr. Creamer was on the first board of directors for the East Texas TELCO Credit Union and was a member of the Pioneers and the Telephone Workers of America Union. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythian Lodge No. 26. Mr. Creamer was an ordained deacon for 46 years and a member of Mobberly Avenue Baptist Church since 1951. He was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. Mr. Creamer loved to work with young people and served many years in the Sunday school program there. He loved his church and worked with the primary and intermediate boys and girls in Sunday school and training union for 34 years. He was also in the Men's Brotherhood, Young at Heart, a very active member in the visitation program and was one of the first members of Evangelism Explosion. He also worked with the Little League for many years. He was a volunteer for Longview Regional Medical Center for more than 2500 hours. Mr. Creamer was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Samuel Creamer, Fred 'June' Creamer Jr. and A.C. Creamer; and sister, Zula Sanders. Mr. Creamer is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 wonderful years, Rose of Longview; loving children, Kimberly Ann Gilbert of Bullard, Dena Dotson and husband, Tony of Longview, and the Rev. John David Creamer of Tyler; granddaughters, Casey Hicks and husband, Andy of Tyler, Lauren Elmore and Cory Gilbert, both of Longview; brother, Harold Creamer and wife, Hazel of Channelview; sister, Jane Cox of Pasadena; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rowene and W.C. Beasley of Omaha; brothers-in-law, James Coble of Mansfield, and Charles Guest of Daingerfield; numerous loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; close war buddy, Bill Dailey of Hayesville, N.C.; and a host of caring friends. The Creamer family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Jampana, Dr. Nayini, Good Shepherd Medical Center sixth floor nursing staff, the Longview Fire Department Station No. 2 on Eastman Road, and the All-American HomeCare staff.
