Damewood, Eleanor Franks Eleanor was born on a Sunday afternoon, March 29, 1931, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Theresa Louise Hagedorn Franks and Roy Franks. She died November 28, 2006. Eleanor was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and Louisiana Tech University. She received a masters degree in library and information sciences from the University of Maryland. Eleanor and her best friend, Logan Damewood, were married May 30, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, and were blessed with great happiness for more than 53 years. Logan's U.S. Air Force career allowed them to travel and live in different parts of the country until they settled in San Antonio, where she served as head of the MacArthur High School Library for 25 years. She loved God's gifts of family, friends, music, flowers, and nature, and especially enjoyed working with Logan on community projects during their last 11 years in Longview. In addition to her beloved husband, Eleanor is survived by a brother, Raymond H. Franks and wife, LaVerne of Shreveport, Louisiana; niece, Doris Miller and husband, Mark of Kilgore; niece, Evelyn Blankenship and husband, Ron of Maryland; niece, Linda Lillard and husband, Brian of Frisco; nephew, David Pitchlynn; and brother-in-law, Ernest Pitchlynn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Special cousins are June and Earl Montgomery of Longview; Marlene and Charles Norwood, and Kayla and Phil Orton, of Galveston; and Keith Norwood, Kenneth and Twyla Norwood and, Isabel De Northwood, all of Shreveport, Louisiana. Great-nieces and nephews are Preston, Austin, and Anna Grace Miller of Kilgore; Nathan, Melanie, and Angela Blankenship, of Maryland; Katie, Allison, and Nelson Lillard, of Frisco; Maddie and Cole Norwood, and Matthew De Northwood of Shreveport, Louisiana; Skye Woodgate of Houston; and Christopher and Andrew Orton of Galveston. The family wishes to recognize with deep appreciation and the kindness and professional care extended to Eleanor by Dr. Larry Frase, Tony Wallace and the staff at the Longview Cancer Center. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Longview, with Dr. Tim Watson officiating. Burial will be private.
