No Date Car falls, kills man, 60 A 60 year old man was found dead Thursday morning by Gregg County Sheriff's deputies after the car he was working on sliped off the jack and fell on his stomach. According to B. W. Acker, Gregg County Sheriff's Office spokesman,Joe James Donath had left his house on Thomas Road, north of Spring Hill, Wednesday afternoon to work on his car. Relatives called authorities Thursday morning after he failed to return home. "Apparently he ahad jacked up the car and crawled under it to work on something," said Acker. "The jack must have slipped, killing him." Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Henry McKinney pronounced mr. Donath dead at the scene at 10:37 a.m. according to Acker. September 16, 1984 Joseph J. Donath Jr. Graveside services for Joseph James Donath Jr., 60, of Longview will be 10 a.m. Satruday in Grace Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Shaw officiating, under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Donath died Thursday morning in Spring Hill. He was a lifetime resident of Longview. He was a Baptist, but attended a Pentacostal Church. he was a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include wife, Madie Frances; sons, Kevin Donath of Longview and Joe Donath of Texarkana; daughters, Sandra Donath and Shirley Donath, both of Longview, and Donna Gale of Texarkana; mother Allie Donath of Gladewater, brother, Orville Donath of Longview; sister, Mildred Owens of White Oak and Betty Rowan of Gladewater; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
