In addition, there will be a viewing 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening, March 26, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home. A precious mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to everyone who knew her, Barbara succumbed to her battle with cancer just as she lived her life: with dignity, strength, and grace. Barbara was born February 12, 1944, in Beaumont, to M.L. "Cat" and Lucille Brooks. They made their home in Tyler, where she graduated from Tyler High School. In July of 1962, she married the father of her two children, Tom Dunwoody III, and they made their home in Cleburne. She was a community leader and owner of a gift shop where she made another family of friends. After her children graduated, she moved to East Texas where she owned and operated the Northeast Texas Credit Bureau. To her employees, she was more than just a boss; she was a mentor, a leader, and friend. Barbara was a member of Camille Acres Baptist Church in Longview, and also attended and generously donated to her daughter's church, Crossroads Methodist Church in Kilgore. Her father, M.L. "Cat" Brooks preceded her in death in July of 2004. Surviving relatives are her mother, Lucille Brooks of Longview; daughter, Denise Dunwoody of Kilgore; son, Thomas A. Dunwoody IV of Fort Worth; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Johnny True of Kilgore; grandson, Zachary Barnes of Fort Worth; nephew, Michael "Tiger" Thomas; and nephew Jeremy Isom and his wife, Mindy and their baby, Annabelle. She is also survived by the father of her children, Tom Dunwoody III of Cleburne. One of Barbara's passions was her love for the family cemetery. Any donations can be made to the Sycamore Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1011 Kilgore, TX 75662. A memorial guestbook may be signed online at www.raderfh.com.
