Dodson, Carole Lynn Walker "Granny" A memorial service for Carole Dodson, 70, of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with Chester Wayne Wilson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Ms. Dodson passed away Sunday evening, June 10, 2007, at Good Shepherd Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by family and friends. Carole was born April 17, 1937, in Avinger, to Felix T. and Carriemae Walker. She graduated from Avinger High School. Carole was a longtime employee of Great American Foods. "Granny" enjoyed watching basketball, fishing, visiting with family and friends and cooking for everyone. Her friends and family were blessed by her open heart. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. She was known for her compassion and selflessness. Carole was preceded in death by her one and only precious son, Jim Dodson, in 1991; and her parents. Carole is survived by her five daughters, Tina Cates Dutton of Bossier City, Louisiana, Glenda and husband, Joe Wilhelm of Longview, Donna and husband, Johnny Allen of Diana, Shandra and husband, Bill Rash of White Oak and Vanessa Jenkins Walker of Longview; sister, Mary Walker Edwards of Longview; brother, Tommy Walker of Avinger; sister, Beverly Walker Drew of Longview; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loyal and loving dog, "Honey". The family wishes to extend special thanks to Mary Nell Morgan, "Granny's" longtime friend and caregiver; Laura and Bill Allen; and Lisa Irions. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Avinger. Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends at the home of Joe and Glenda Wilhelm, 826 Lansing Switch Road, Longview. A memorial guestbook may be signed at www.raderfh.com.
