Dorsey, Alene Rash Services for Alene Rash Dorsey, 89, of Longview, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with Thomas Hogland officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Dorsey passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Dorsey was born May 16, 1918, at the family home in Ashley County, Ark., as the eleventh of 12 children to James Pearson and Priscilla Bain Pearson. Being the youngest girl, she was extremely spoiled as a child and that attitude remained with her till her death. After being raised in Southeast Arkansas, she moved to Longview in 1951. Mrs. Dorsey worked at Etex Café at night to be able to put herself through beauty school during the day. After receiving her beautician's license, she went to work at Georgia's Beauty Salon, where she worked for 20 years. Her independent spirit forced her to open her own beauty shop where she worked until finally deciding to retire at 78 years of age. Mrs. Dorsey was a very determined, hard working woman, who loved raising a garden, and working in her flower beds. She was a longtime, faithful, member of Greggton Church Of Christ, where she taught Bible class for many years, and was a stickler for reading her Bible. Preceding her in death were her parents; all of her siblings; and her husbands, Clay Rash and Kenneth Dorsey. Survivors include her son, Jackie Rash and wife, Ilene of Longview; grandsons, Michael David Rash and wife, Pamela of Longview, and Anthony C. "Tony" Rash and wife, Nancy of Hallsville; great-grandchildren, William Riggle and wife, Stacey of Montgomery, Alabama, Crystal Lamb of Longview, Sara Rash and Clay Rash of Hallsville; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-7 p.m. this evening, July 11, 2007, at the funeral home, 4619 Judson Road.
