Thursday June 11, 1931 Charles Edwards Is Laid To Rest Final rites, with full Masonic ritual, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock for Charles Gordon Edwards, pioneer Longview resident, who died Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock after a lengthy illness. He was 62 years old. Death resulted at his Hoskins street residence, where funeral services were held, from complications following an attack of bronchial pneumonia. Forming an honorary cortege from the residence to the Longview cemetery, members of Masonic lodge No 404, of Longview, administered full rites at the grave, while the Rev. T. S. Barcus, pastor of the Kelly Memorial church here, officiated. Coming to Longview 19 years ago from Hydro, Okla., where he was a building contractor, Mr Edwards took an active interest in the development of this city. He formed a partnership in business known as the Edward-Young Casket company, with offices here on Pacific avenue. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Helma Edwards, a son, Bill Edwards and a daughter, Mrs A. E. Curtis, both of Beaumont; a brother, Dr. A. P. Edwards, Mardin, Okla., and two nephews, Paul Ingstrum of Tyler and J.L. Edwards of Melford, Ore. and a grandson, Ralph Curtis, Jr., of Beaumont. Pallbearerers were M.A. Hall, E. Hamvasy, A. Mackey, C. King, Fred Lawrence, G. O. Cunyus and Bil McDuffey. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Forman's.
