James Albert Edwards Sr GLADEWATER - Services for James Albert "Jim" Edwards Sr., 78, of Gladewater, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at the Longview Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Gladewater. Born on March 2, 1932, in Monticello, Utah, to Harry and Ella Edwards, he died on Thursday, November 11, 2010. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. Upon retirement from the military, he owned and operated Jim's Jewelry and later worked for the Gladewater Independent School District and Acme Truck Lines. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart of 57 years, Betty Edwards of Gladewater; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Tom Allen of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Nancy Edwards of Gladewater; four grandchildren, Michael McWhorter of Gladewater, Marc McWhorter of Dallas, Colt and Kristi Edwards of Denton and Sam Edwards of Gladewater; one great-granddaughter, Bayleigh Edwards of Gladewater; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Earlene Edwards of Gladewater and Max and Sondra Edwards of Gladewater; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, James McWhorter; and three brothers, Dick Edwards, Jack Edwards and Randy Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
