Faries, Paul Reed A memorial service for Paul Reed Faries, 77, of Longview, will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2006, at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Michael Macey and the Reverend Charlene Miller officiating. Rader Funeral Home of Longview is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Faries died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born August 16, 1928, in Middletown, Ohio, to H. Gordon and Mildred Reed Faries. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Faries was a former law enforcement officer in Middletown, Ohio. He worked for more than 40 years as a safety engineer in both public and commercial safety, including for the National Safety Council. Mr. Faries had been a resident of Longview since 1973, and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the hand bell choir. Paul was a member of the Sharon Shrine, member of Pine Tree Masonic Lodge for more 50 years, and a former president of the Gregg County Shrine Club. Over the years, he was a member of the Sharon Fire Brigade, the Drum and Bugle Corp, and assisted at the Wheelchair Clinic. He enjoyed camping with the Sharon RV club and actively participating in aiding children with burns and disabilities through his volunteer work with the Shriners Hospital for Children. Paul also enjoyed music of all kinds and was a gifted drummer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Jane Faries; step-daughter, Joyce J. Callahan; step-son, Scott Jackson; his precious grandson, Christian Callahan; and extended family members, J. Kim Callahan and Elaine Shaw Callahan.
