November 13, 1984 John H. Francis John H. Francis, 84, of Longview will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Mr. Francis died Tuesday morning in a local nursing home. He was a resident of Longview since 1930, coming from El Dorado, Ark. He was a member of Woodland Christian Church and Longview Masonic Lodge No. 404. He was a retired barber and served as president of the local barber's union, and served 10 years as president of the Texas State Barber's Association. He was a former president of the State Barbers Board and was barber representative for the International Barbers Union. Her served 17 years an an international organizer for the American Federation of Labor. Survivors include his wife, Mattie; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Sally Francis of Houston and Jerry and Elizabeth Francis of Richardson; a sister, Lula Langston of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, John Francis II of Baton Rouge, La., Beverly Dinkle and Rebecca, Katherine and Julia Francis, all of Shreveport, La., two great-grandchildren; and nephews, Gus and Ray Caldwell of Longview.
