Fite II, LaDell "Woo" Services for LaDell Fite II will be held at noon Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Lewis Chapel CME Church, with the Rev. Travis Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery, under the special care of the Bigham Mortuary of Longview. LaDell went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2007, after a short illness. LaDell was born February 28, 1952, in Longview, Gregg County, Texas, to LaDell Fite Sr., who preceded him in death, and Anna Lee Williams. At an early age, he united with the Growing Valley Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. R.B. Bradley. He later united with the Lewis Chapel CME Church. LaDell's education commenced at Janie Daniel Elementary School, and he later graduated from Mary C. Womack in 1970. He then attended Paul Quinn College and Prairie View A&M University and obtained a B.S. in pre-med, biology, chemistry and education. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Beta Kappa Chi National Science Society and Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society. LaDell was named to 1987 Outstanding Young Men of America, Dallas Pan Hellenic Council and a Longview Independent School District teacher. LaDell leaves to cherish his memory a very special and loving mother, Anna Lee Cobbins; sisters, Nelwyn Palmer, Gayelois Thomas, Annette Summers, Janice Rice and Patrica Brown; brothers, Farley L. Fite, Michael Fite, David Fite, Jeffery Fite and Wendell Fite; special aunts, Dorothy M. Bell, Perryline Fite and Zelma L. Collins; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Anita Scribner and her staff as well as Good Shepherd Medical Center's fifth floor intensive care unit.
