Fleming, Martha Born June 14, 1918, Martha Magdalena Wruck moved with her family to Damon, at the age of five. She lived and attended school there, having graduated in 1936. She was the third child and eldest daughter of Henry Gustaf Wruck and Sophie Besler Wruck. Martha, a high school cheerleader, met and later married Herbert Alfred Fleming, a star running back for the Damon High School Bobcat football team on December 21, 1937. They had four daughters. They owned and operated their own business in Damon until retirement when they moved to the Longview area. Martha, an active and ardent church and community leader and volunteer, took special interest and pride in her skills as a seamstress and tailor, keeping herself and three active daughters in apparel, including special attire for school plays, twirling events, formal dance affairs and weddings. Her sewing interests also included quilt making, which she learned from her mother and continued throughout her life. After moving to Longview, she became active with the Piney Woods Quilters and also organized a group at First Lutheran Church which made quilts to ship to relief efforts throughout the world. Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Sophie Wruck; her husband, Herbert, and their infant daughter, Martha Laverne; her brothers, Merle, Gahart and Harvey Wruck; her brothers-in-law, Standley King and Bill Shelton; and sister-in-law, Lavenia Wruck. Surviving Martha are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Irvin Foytik of El Campo, Diann and John Greifenkamp of Longview, and Rhonda and Rick Freese of Frisco; grandchildren: Jennifer Greifenkamp Hay and husband, Carter, and their children, Hawthorne and Ainsley; and Jonathan Greifenkamp and his wife, Jillian , and their children, Austin, Thomas and Andrew, and Ryan Soape (Freese). Her sisters include Marion King of Friendswood, and Annetta Shelton of Belton; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Wruck of Damon. Martha was also blessed with a number of nieces, nephews great-nieces and great-nephews, each of whom had a special place in her heart. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the loving hands who have shared in the care of Martha in recent years at Country Place Village of Kilgore and Pine Tree Lodge Nursing Center of Longview. A brief memorial service will be held during the 11 a.m. worship service at First Lutheran Church on Sunday, July 29, 2007. Martha and Herbert's ashes will be interred in the Damon Cemetery at a date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to Damon Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
