Godwin, Lynn E. GILMER -- Funeral services for Lynn E. Godwin, 74, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with the Rev. Don Points officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Godwin passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006, at a local nursing home. He was born November 12, 1931, in Gary, Texas, to Melvin and Eugenia Godwin. On January 23, 1951, he married Marvin Liles. Both were from small towns and eventually moved to East Mountain in 1959 and made a home there. He retired as a master welder after 40 years with Marathon LeTourneau. He loved horses, cows and hay baling. He is survived by his wife of 55 years whom he loved dearly, Marvin Godwin of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law, Mattie and Keith Neely; two granddaughters, Amanda Green and husband, Trey, of Gilmer, and Ruth Kallatsa and husband, Bill, of Michigan; one grandson, Jeremy Neely of Gilmer; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Green, Trevor Ragland and Travis Ruesing; two brothers, Clyde Godwin and Harold Godwin; and four sisters, Pearl Stephens, Doris Eason, Emma Donald and Pauline Bice. He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers and two sisters. The family would like to thank Gilmer Care Center and Greater Hospice of Longview for their kindness and care extended to Lynn and is family during his final days. Pallbearers will be David Evertt, Trey Green, Charles D. Medlin, Jim Medlin, Jerry Moore and Jeremy Neely. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer Foundation.
