September 28, 1984 Jake Goodwin Services for Jake J. Goodwin Jr., 68, of Longview are set for 11 a.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Conrad Winborn and the Rev. Dale Horton officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Dr. Goodwin died Friday afternoon in a local hospital after an illness of several months. He was a lifetime resident of Longview. He practiced dentistry in Longview until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Longview Masonic Lodge No. 404, the East Texas Dental Society, and the Texas Dental Society. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a fellow of the International College of Dentists. He served as a Navy commander in the South Pacific during World War II. Survivors include wife, Josephine of Longview; daughter, Sara Goodwin Ussery of Beaumont; sons, William Joseph Goodwin and Robert Phillip Goodwin, both of Dallas; and six grandchildren.
