Monday Afternoon January 2, 1933 Young Woman Ends Own Life With Gun Shot Mrs. Alfred Grigsby Fires Fatal Bullet Home, Dies in Hospital Mrs. Alfred Grigsby, aged about 19, died at a local hospital at 1:15 p.m. Monday. Undertakers and the attending physician said Mrs Grigsby had shot herself just about the heart about 12:30 p.m. in her home on South Green street. Despondency was given as the cause of the act, according to her physician. Her husband was not in the city at the time of the shooting. Before her marriage a year ago, she was Miss Elizabeth Hughes. She was a graduate of Longview high school. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Welch's will be in charge. -------------- Tuesday Afternoon January 3, 1933 Mrs Grigsby, Who Shot Self, Buried Here On Tuesday Funeral services were to be held at 3:30 p.m Tuesday at the First Baptist church for Mrs Alfred Grigsby, who Monday shot herself because of despondency and died thirty minutes later in a local hospital. She was at her home here at the time of the fatal shooting. Her husband was not there. She left a six months old baby. Rev. John L. Whorton pastor of the First Baptist church, where she was a member and active worker, will officiate at the services.
