Guess, Ray Nell (Bearden) GLADEWATER -- Ray Nell Bearden Guess was born May 25, 1943, and she passed away August 17, 2006, after a brief illness. Mrs. Guess, the daughter of B.R. and Odessa Bearden, was born and raised in Gladewater. She was a 1961 graduate of Gladewater High School. She resided in Liberty City for the last 26 years. Mrs. Guess worked for several companies in her lifetime. She worked 10 years at Schlitz/Stroh Containers, several years at Sabine Dairy Queen, and 10 years for Smith's Handy Dandy in Gladewater. She felt as though she made many friends in her various jobs and treasured each. Ray Nell's hobbies included painting, reading, and listening to gospel music. Ray Nell and Rod Guess were married 23 years and have five children. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Lakeview Community Church in Tyler. Her church family was very precious to her. She has gone home. She was preceded in death by her father, B.R. Bearden in 2003. She is survived by her husband, Rod; mother, Odessa Bearden; one sister, Anna Smith of Gladewater; five children, DeeDee Eaves of Tatum, Windell Eaves of Kilgore, Lona Maxted of Longview, Kelly Sharp of Oldsmar, Fla., and Roger Guess of Overton; nine grandchildren, Drew Kelley, and Blake Reddock, Kaylen and Kindell Eaves, Taylor, Jacob, and Caleb Maxted, Greg Sharp, and Zac Guess; and two great-grandchildren, Summer Guess and Gunner Kelley. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Leon and Sister Robbie Batchelor of Lakeview Community Church of Tyler, and Windell Eaves of Calvary Christian Tabernacle officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. Following the services, friends and family will gather at Nazarene Church in Gladewater for dinner and fellowship. Pallbearers will be Windell Eaves, Jason Maxted, Zac Guess, Drew Kelley, Blake Reddock, and Bubba Smith. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, August 18, 2006, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 8/18/2006.
