Godfrey, Vella Corinne Funeral services for Vella Corinne Godfrey, 92, of Longview, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road in Longview, with the Reverend Mark Horner officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Mrs. Godfrey passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2007, at her residence. She was born January 2, 1915, in Culver, Kansas, to Dr. and Mrs. George Shields. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Frank Edwin Godfrey Jr. on December 25, 1933, and they moved to Longview. She had been a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, and was a member of CPW and Young at Heart at her church. Corinne worked for FedWay and later Dillard's for several years. She enjoyed her hobby of china painting for many years, being a member of the Century Porcelain Arts Club and East Texas Porcelain Club. Mrs. Godfrey was also an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful flowers and yard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; her only son, Jay Frank Godfrey; two brothers; and a sister. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Shirley J. Godfrey of Longview; grandsons, Geoffrey Jay and his wife, Cashion; great-grandsons, Graham Jay Godfrey of Dallas, Texas, and Kevin Ross Godfrey of New York, New York; numerous nieces and nephews; and special care giver of seven years, Rosibel Stone of Kilgore. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas or First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
