L.J. Goodwin Dies Thursday

Kilgore ---- L.J. Goodwin, 85 year old resident of Fritz-Swanson
Road, died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday at his residence following a lengthy
illness. 

Mr. Goodwin was a retired merchant and was a member of the East
Sabine Baptist Church. He was a native of Miller County, Ark., and came
here in 1947 from Joinerville. 

Funeral services are pending at Rader Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Almeda Goodwin; four daughters,
Mrs. Grace Hurst of Warren, Mich.; Mrs. Verda Mahoney of Augusta, Mich.,
Mrs. Adell Willoughby of Kilgore and Mrs. Faye Cole of Houston; four
sons, Ira Goodwin of New London, Gordon Goodwin of Longview, L. J.
Goodwin of Houston and Burl Goodwin of Kilgore; three brothers, Paul and
Owen Goodwin of Texarkana and Luther Goodwin of North Hollywood, Calif.;
17 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
