Hancock III, Joseph Carl Graveside services for Joseph Carl Hancock III, 76, of Longview and Grand Saline, Texas, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Pine Hill Methodist Cemetery, with the Reverend Doyle Sumrall and the Reverend Thomas Pesnell officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Methodist Cemetery, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Hancock passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in Longview. Mr. Hancock was born January 7, 1930, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Joseph Carl and Elizabeth Phillips Hancock. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1947, and attended Texas A&M College. Mr. Hancock was a pilot and flight instructor, serving the bulk of his career with Braniff International Airways. He was a devoted husband and father and a longtime member of Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline, Texas. Mr. Hancock was a man of honor and integrity and was well-loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea Standard Hancock of Grand Saline; two daughters, Elizabeth Jeane Hancock of Nacogdoches, and Janet Dillon-Wolfe of Penrose, Colo.; three grandchildren, Hattie Hackler and Heather Dews, both of Nacogdoches, and Jason Eric Dillon of Penrose, Colo.; two sisters, Margaret Sumrall of Henderson, and Laurinda Alpenfels-Gloss of Boulder, Colo.; extended family, LaRue Dorsey and her son, Randy, both of Longview.
