Monday December 5, 1927 J.V. Harrison Passes Away At Home Here J.V. Harrison, Sr., one of Longview's most esteemed citizens, died at his home in Northcutt Heights, at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Harrison was born in Fayettville, Arkansas 67 years ago, and came to Longview when a young man, at the age of 20 years, and since then had been an interested citizen in both the county and the city. His first employment was with the Northcutt Hardware Company. Later, he was appointed city marshall, in which office he served a number of years. He had also been engaged in the transfer business. During the administration of D. S. Meredith, as Sheriff, Mr. Harrison served as his deputy. At the time of his death, he was serving as justice of the peace. Mr. Harrison married to Miss Tommie Dodson. To this union seven children were born, four of whom are living. They are Mrs. Louis Persons and Mrs Frank Kunz, J.V. Harrison, Jr., and Rolla Harrison, all of Longview. He is also survived by his wife and sister, Mrs G. E. Reed of Chicotah, Okla., who was at his bedside when the end came. Funeral services were held from the home at 3 o'clock this afternoon, with the Rev John L. Whorton, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were: E. O. McWhorter, Dush Shaw, D. S. Meredith, Jr., Sid Henderson, Martin Hays and Dr. W. D. Northcutt.
