Henderson, Harold William MARSHALL - Harold William Henderson, 77, of Longview, formerly of Marshall, died March 23, 2007, after a long battle with emphysema. Hap, as he was known to family and friends, was born on January 11, 1930, in Independence, Missouri, to Harold Raines Henderson and Rose Henning Henderson. He was raised in Marshall, Texas, and was proud to be a sixth- generation Texan. He attended Marshall High school and joined the United States Marine Corps after graduation. He married Bobbie Spinks Henderson on December 19, 1950. Hap worked at Thiokol in Karnack for 25 years before obtaining his real estate license. He and Bobbie moved to Longview in the later 1980s, and Hap worked as sales manager for Fugitt and Godfrey Real Estate and later worked in commercial real estate for Zack Williams. Hap will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, his ever-present opinion on many subjects, his love for his two dogs, Belle Star and Chubbie, and his devotion to his two children, Harold and Kitty, and long-awaited first grandchild, Harper Scout. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie of Longview; daughter, Kitty Ann Henderson of Austin; son, Harold Spinks Henderson; daughter-in-law, Candy Keys Henderson; stepgranddaughter, Jade Barber; and granddaughter, Harper Scout Henderson, all of Longview. He is also survived by brother, Robert Henning Henderson and sister-in-law, Ann, of Marshall; sister-in-law, Helen Keach of Susanville, California; niece, Sophie Henderson; and nephew, Robert Henning Henderson Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Raines and Rose Henning Henderson. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, with the Rev. Bill Webb officiating, under the direction of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, March 25, 2007, at the funeral home.
