Monday November 1, 1926 Former Longview Resident Died at Marshall Sunday Richard Howard, of Marshall, a former well known and esteemed citizen of this city, died at Kahn Memorial hospital in Marshall yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock, following an illness of several weeks. Mr Howard was born in London, England, 63 years ago and came to America with his mother and two sisters in about 1876, moving with them to Mississippi. When still a boy, his mother died. He came to Texas in 1886 and made Longview his home for a number for years. His sisters preceded him in death several years ago. Deceased served the Unite States Army in the Phillippines during the Spanish American War. After the war, he returned to Texas and twelve years ago returned to Longview, and was for eleven years employed by the Longview Steam Laundry. During the past years, he has made his home in Marshall. B. D. Marshall of this city was at his bedside when he died, and he and Mrs Marshall accompanied the remains to Longview last night. Deceased united with the methodist church early in childhood. He was a faithful member of his church throughout life, and was a kind, good and honorable Christian gentleman. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Kelly Mrmorial Methodist church with Rev.J. Coy Williams, opastor of the church, conducting the service. Internment was in Grace Hill cemetery.
