Hicks, Thomas Some legends are made by the way they live their lives. Others, by the things we remember about them when they are gone. Thomas Hicks, 14, of Longview, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, in Upshur County. He was born November 9, 1992, in Longview, to Thomas and Katie Hicks. Thomas, an eighth grade student at Tatum, was a member of the band and enjoyed wood shop. He was a boy scout who loved life. His favorite hobbies included his four-wheeler as well as hunting, fishing and race cars. His choice in music ranged from country to rock-n-roll to everything in between. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bob Power and James Hicks. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Thomas and Katie Hicks; sisters, April Hicks and Misty Sweeney and her husband, Jason; two nieces; one nephew; and grandmothers, Shirley Hicks and Karen Power. Thomas will also be missed by a host of special friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 7 p.m. this evening, March 20, 2007, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview.
