Jo was born March 6, 1929, in Long Beach, California, to Robert Prentiss and Johnnie E. Hanna. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, California. She also lived in Longview, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Lake Cherokee and Cochiti Lake, New Mexico before returning to Kilgore in 2006, to be close to family and friends. Jo's passion was cooking; she loved entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed her artwork, sewing, reading and watching old movies. She loved her two dogs, "Brenda" and "Bootsie." Her spirit blessed her friends and family. Jo never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert H. Hodges of Kilgore; two sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen Hodges of Bakersfield, California and Robert and Vicki Hodges of Kilgore; grandson and wife, Clay and Rachel Hodges of Mart, Texas; granddaughter, Stefanie Hodges of College Station, Texas; great-grandson, Holden Hodges of Mart, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allan and Billie Hodges; sister-in-law, Larcy Hodges; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail and Richard Myers, all of Bakersfield, California; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Patel, The Willows of Kilgore, Longview Cancer Center, Good Shepherd Medical Center and Heart'sWay Hospice for Jo's wonderful care in her final days.
