SMITH COUNTY - FRIENDSHIP CEMETERY Isaac Cody & Helen Catherine (Jones) Houston Services for Cody and Helen Houston, 92 and 89 respectively, will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church Gladewater with Brother Bailey Harris officiating and interment following at Friendship Cemetery. Cody and Helen went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 8, 2014, entering eternity arm in arm just as they had always been in this life. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Isaac Cody Houston was born in Devol, Oklahoma to Ira and Ione Houston on May 9, 1922. Cody lost his father to a tragic accident but found a blessing and mentor when his mother married Barney McKnight. Cody referred to him as “the best dad a boy could have.” Helen Catherine Jones was born in Wortham, Texas to Jesse Nolan Jones and Melvina Brooks Jones on January 19, 1925. The two married on January 24, 1942 they were residents of Gladewater and members of First Baptist Church. Helen worked as a Dietician while Cody served the children of Gladewater as a Custodian and Bus Driver for Gladewater ISD. They are survived by their daughter Bobbi Houston of Mesquite, Texas; sons-in-law, Bobby Yates and Wiley Eaton of Gladewater; grandson, Richard Houston-Norton of Mesquite; granddaughters, Wendy Yates of Grand Prairie and Kimberly Ann Thompson and husband John of Abilene; three great grandchildren, Brooke Cates, Brett Thompson, and Bo Thompson and four great-great grandchildren, Evelyn Kate and Cody Holder, Mya and Cash Thompson; brother, Daryl McKnight and sister, Ikey Haire. Cody and Helen are preceded in death by their parents, and two daughters, Grace Evelyn Yates and Mary Eaton.
