Kay, Raymond Vernon Services for Raymond Vernon Kay, 80, of Longview, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the Provencal First Baptist Church in Provencal, Louisiana, with the Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Mr. Kay passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at a local medical center. Mr. Kay was born January 24, 1926, in Provencal, Louisiana, to Pinkney Grant and Lottie Levice Cobb Kay. He attended Provencal First Baptist Church in Provencal, Louisiana, and Alpine Church Of Christ in Longview. He graduated from Northwestern State College and LeTourneau Technical Institute. He served in Europe during World War II and in the 557th Paratroopers Airborne Division in the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of sergeant. He worked as a sales and service manager for Marathon LeTourneau and lived in Longview for more than 45 years. He was a member of the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge. Preceding Mr. Kay in death was his wife, Erma Blanche Ferguson Kay in August of 1995; siblings, Rufus Kay, Exie Welch, Minnie Hanley, Sophronia Caldwell, Lettie Honeycutt-Gandy, Johnny Ivy Kay, Hattie Rhodes, and Lillie Winstead. Left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Raymond and Dolly Kay of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Margot Kay of Palm Desert, California, Karla Sue Kay and Frank Richard Rowland of Austin, and Lisalee Kay and Brad Sobey of Gilmer; grandchildren, Miles Justin Rowland and Joshua Martin Rowland of Austin, Kortnee Taylor Kay and Rebecca Ryan of Longview, Jessica Lee Sobey and Ford "Bradford" Raymond Sobey of Gilmer; sisters, Letha Lee Schlaff of Somers, Connecticut, Odeal Pharris of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Beatrice Dixon of Natchitoches, Louisiana; brother, James Kay of Provencal, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
