Kelly, Evan "Pat" KILGORE -- Graveside services for Evan "Pat" Kelly, 80, of Kilgore, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas. Mr. Kelly passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in Longview. He was born November 18, 1925, in Dallas, to the late William R. and Gladys Evans Kelly. Mr. Kelly served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Belle Grove, LSD-2 Landing Craft Division for two years in the South Pacific. He was involved in the initial invasions of Eniwitok, Tarawa, Guam, Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He was a member of the Denver City Masonic Lodge No. 1278 for more than 50 years. Mr. Kelly retired from the Oilwell Supply Division of U.S. Steel after 38 years of service. He worked as a field representative in Denver City, Andrews, Kermit, Monahans, Wichita Falls and Fort Morgan, Colorado before finally moving to Kilgore, where he continued to make his home after retirement in 1985. Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lund Kelly of Kilgore; son, Michael of Kilgore; two granddaughters, Jessica and Tabitha Kelly, both of Kilgore; sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Jack Daffron of Duncanville; niece, Annette and husband, Rusty, Norman and their daughter, Asleigh, all of Dallas; sister-in-law, Patsy Kelly of Houston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roland and Yolanda Lund of Farmers Branch; as well as many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles E. Kelly. The family requests that memorials be made to the Denver City Masonic Lodge No. 1278, Denver City, TX 79323.
