Knighton, Jewel Washington 


Services for Jewel Washington Knighton, of Longview, will be noon, Tuesday, April 
25, 2006, at First Baptist Church in Longview, with the Rev. Tim McNeil and H.C. 
Rockmore officiating. Burial will follow in Jordan Valley Memorial Park under the 
loving care of Citizens Funeral Home. Mrs. Knighton died Friday at a local hospital. 
Mrs. Knighton was born in Beaumont, to Vera Washington and Olivia Coleman Washington, 
deceased. She met and married T.L. Knighton, deceased, and they moved to Longview, 
where they became owners of Citizens Funeral Home, serving families in the East Texas 
area. After her husband's death, she remained owner of Citizens. She was active in 
many social and civic groups. Left to cherish her precious memory are her son, Tommy 
Knighton Jr. of Longview; her brother, Eugene Washington of Beaumont; grandchildren, 
Thomas L. Knighton III, Chris M. Knighton, Akiva J. Knighton and Trenecia Knighton; 
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and extended family. A public viewing 
will be 1-8 p.m. today, April 24, 2006, at the funeral home.
