Karr, Leonard Walter Korobkin Leonard passed on to meet his Lord on November 12, 2007, after a difficult and courageous battle with cancer. He was home surrounded by family and loved ones. Leonard was born May 4, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Frederick and Gertrude Moss Korobkin. Leonard received his education at various schools from K-12 in Michigan. Upon completion of his education, Leonard joined the United States Navy from 1960-1964, where he received an honorable discharge. After returning home, he went to work for various companies, including the Chrysler Motor Co. in Detroit, Michigan, from which he received extensive training in the painting technology field which led him to become a painter for 45 years. Having that knowledge allowed Leonard to operate his business, Karr Painting, in the East Texas area for several years. For the past couple of years, until his illness, Leonard operated an ice cream business known as "The Ice Cream Truck" around Longview and White Oak. Leonard was preceded by his parents. Leonard leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy Karr; one brother and sister-in- law, Marty and Brenda Karr; his children: Randy, Tammy and Samantha Novak, all of Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Erica and Todd Ball of Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and David Saddler of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Sean Norton of Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Danny Dyer of Longview; and daughter, Danielle Loden-Campbell of Longview; his grandchildren: Trista and Jacob Ball; Matthew and Maicy Saddler; Roy, Shawn D. and James Norton; Nancy and Wade Dyer; and Turner Campbell; brothers-in-law, Phil DiBell of Conneaut, Ohio, Thomas DiBell of San Francisco, California, and Donald DiBell of Ashtabula, Ohio; sister-in -law, Kathy Smith of Ashtabula, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007, at New Life Baptist Church, 3001 Hawkins Parkway, Longview, Texas. During which, we request that everyone please wear RED, as this was Leonard's favorite color. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to New Life Baptist Church Building Fund or to Legacy Hospice, as they took excellent care of Leonard during his final days.
