KILGORE -- Services for Steve Long, 49, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. 
Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the First Baptist Church, with the 
Reverend David Hampton and the Reverend Eddie Hilburn officiating. 
Burial will follow in Danville Cemetery. Mr. Long died Monday, 
September 18, 2006, in Tyler. He was born June 5, 1957, in Kilgore. 
Steve attended Kilgore and Longview schools before he studied 
criminal justice at Kilgore College. Steve had a passion for the 
criminal justice system and was a member of the College Pistol Club. 
Mr. Long was on the board of directors of East Texas Financial 
Corporation. He was a member of the Kilgore Jaycees, Kilgore Chamber 
of Commerce, the First Baptist Church, and a charter patron of the 
Texas Rangers Association Foundation. Steve is survived by his mother, 
Mrs. H.L. "Pete" Long of Kilgore; three brothers, Larry and his wife, 
Melinda Long of Kilgore, Charles Long and Angelina of Kilgore, and 
Allan and his wife, Tina Long of Kilgore; aunts and uncles, Joe and 
Doris Bolt of Kilgore, Johnny and Nona Faye Bolt of Kilgore, Paul and 
Helen George Bolt of Kilgore, Mildred Hill of Tyler; five nieces; one 
nephew; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, H.L. 
"Pete" Long in 1989. Memorial contributions may be made to the Texas 
Rangers Association Foundation, 104 Texas Ranger Trail, Waco, TX 76706; 
or to the Kilgore Police Officers Association, 909 N. Kilgore St., 
Kilgore, TX 75662. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m.
