Loomis, Charles Kenneth HURST -- A noon memorial service for Charles Kenneth Loomis will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer and the Reverend Mike Macey officiating. Mr. Loomis died December 27, 2006, at the age of 93, just shy of his 94th birthday. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Allison, in 1987; and his wife of 54 years, Kathryn Swiley Loomis, in 1996. Mr. Loomis is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Waylon Ward of Colleyville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Barbara Loomis of Austin; three grandchildren, Lyle Peterson, Jennifer Hagan and Evan Loomis; four great- grandchildren, David, Mary Kathryn, John and Elizabeth Peterson; and a sister, Trudy Loomis Ralph of Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Loomis, son of Willard and Nell Loomis, was born February 8, 1913, in Sedan, Kan. He moved to Longview in 1952, and resided here until he moved a year ago to live with his daughter and son-in-law in Colleyville. Mr. Loomis attended the University of Oklahoma from 1929-1933; worked with the Carter Oil Co. in Oklahoma and Illinois from 1934-1939; the Standard Oil Co. of Venezuela in South America from 1939-1942; the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945; and the Creole Petroleum Corp. in Venezuela from 1946-1952. He had been selmployed as a petroleum landman since 1952. During World War II, Mr. Loomis was with the 47th Seabee Battalion in the southwest Pacific. Mr. Loomis' remains will be cremated and ashes strewn in the All Saints Memorial Garden at Trinity Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Trinity School of Texas.
