David Lindwall officiating and eulogy by Mr. Fred Wilkerson. Graveside services will follow in Memory Park of Longview The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening, September 21, 2007, at the funeral home. George passed away Monday, September 17 at his residence after a short, but very courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 16, 1963 to George A. "Sonny" and Ann Lloyd. He is a lifelong resident of Longview and one of the "Lloyd's of Longview". He is a 1982 graduate of Longview High School with so many high school buddies that there are too many to count. He was employed by Air Liquide for 18 years and was greatly admired by his co-workers and customers. George was an avid baseball and football player. He was also a coach to his children and many other children of the Spring Hill community. Teaching children the fundamentals of the game was one of his favorite things and he looked forward to each sporting season, regardless of which sport it was. George was a devoted husband and a wonderful father to his two boys, Mason and Sonny. He built his world around his family. He never met a stranger and his life was a shining example of the ordinary for such an extraordinary person. There is not a word that can describe how amazingly wonderful he truly was. To his friends he was "Gorgeous George" and to his family he was just gorgeous. To George, life was about hang- ing on when your heart had had enough, and giving more when you felt like giving up. He always looked at the glass as half full and always had a smile, especially for the children. He was preceded in death by his father, George Anthony "Sonny" Lloyd, Sr.; his other "dad", George Frank Brown; his grandparents, R. E. "Big Daddy" and Ella Mims Tucker Williamson; his grandmother, Estelle Cobb Lloyd; great-grandmother, Maude Cobb; and father and mother-in-law, John Steger and Jane Steger Falkner. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anisa Steger Lloyd; two sons, Mason Andrew Lloyd and George Anthony "Sonny" Lloyd, III; his devoted mother, Ann Lloyd Brown; one sister, Janice Lloyd Tucker; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Crystal Lloyd; stepsister and brother-in-law; Brian and Chrissi Brown King; brother-in-law, John Windell Steger; nieces and nephew, Darby Tucker; Madison, Austin and Reagan Lloyd; and Britany and Shelby Steger. He is also survived by a large extended "Brown clan" and so many, many life-long friends and "characters". The family would like to thank the staff of the Longview Cancer Center, and especially Dr. Larry Frase and Dr. Bill Taylor, for their compassion, caring and general understanding. They would also like to thank the "Sunshine Committee" for all the hard work, food, prayer and hand holding over the short months. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the George Lloyd Scholarship Fund in care of Texas Federal Credit Union, 2410 S. Green Street, Longview, TX 75602.
