Maledon, Ethel L. Services for Ethel L. Maledon, 97, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church, with Dr. Tim Watson and the Rev. Dewayne Beaty officiating. Entombment will be held at Memory Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Maledon passed away Monday, June 19, 2006, at a local medical center. Mrs. Maledon was born January 15, 1909, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Joseph Dudley and Artina Marie Hughes Poday. She served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, working at the Karnack Ammunition Plant. She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 70 years, singing in their choir for 50 of those years. She was an avid bridge player who achieved the status of life master with the American Contract Bridge League. Also, she was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Longview. Mrs. Maledon was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Elick N. Maledon. Survivors include her daughter, Molly Ethel Maledon Arp and husband, Bobby, of Longview; son, Elick N. Maledon and wife, Sally, of Ruidoso, New Mexico; granddaughters, Shannon Guttry of Longview, and Stacye McCollum of Lewisville; grandsons, Ryan Arp and Elick Arp of Longview; four great-grandchildren; extended family members; and numerous friends.
