Mills, Helen Marie Nealy Services celebrating the life of Helen Marie Nealy Mills, 76, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Welch Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. this evening, February 24, 2006, at the funeral home. Mrs. Mills was born December 7, 1929, in Taylor, Ark. She moved to Longview in 1952. Helen was "the voice of Gregg County" as the switchboard operator at the courthouse for 25 years. She was a member of Mobberly Avenue Baptist Church for 45 years. Active in her boys' activities, she served as a Scout den mother and baseball mom. She also hosted fish fries for family and church groups. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Leon Mills; brothers, C.W. Boyette of Texarkana, Texas, and James Donald Boyette and wife, Lena, of Anaheim, Calif.; and sister, Ophelia (Pet) Giddings of Sarepta, La.; sons, James Nealy of Albuquerque, N.M., Tommy Nealy and wife, Melody, of Houston, Texas, and Terry Nealy and wife, Kathryn, of Longview; daughters, Joyce Vriezelaar and husband, Terry, of Monroe, Iowa, Vickie Simmons of Kilgore, and Peggy Jackson and husband, Gary, of Derry, N.H. She was a loving grandmother to Kristi, Levi, Trey, Casey, Montana, and Sarah Nealy; Marianne Bird, Janna Simmons, Adrienne and Stephanie Jackson, and Catherine Birkenholtz; and great-grandchildren Christopher, Kara, Landen, Sage, Sabra, Koedi, and Chelsea. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Levi, Trey and Casey Nealy, and nephews James Giddings, Ricky and Michael Boyette. She loved everyone and she will be loved and missed by us all.
