Menges, Edward Murrel KILGORE -- Services for Edward Murrel Menges, 79, of Kilgore, formerly of San Angelo and Snyder, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006, at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, with the Reverend Roger Hoffpowier and Mr. Danny Menges officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Cemetery. Mr. Menges went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2006, after battling with heart problems. He was born April 24, 1927, in Gouldbusk of Coleman County, to Earl and Winnie Menges, who preceded him in death. He spent most of his years as a business owner in the Snyder oil fields. Upon his retirement, he moved to San Angelo, and most recently into the Longview area. Murrel's dad died when he was only 11. The eldest of three children, Murrel worked after school to help his mom financially. He later left high school to work full time. He and his brother put their sister through college. Working all the time, his love for his family kept him going. Murrel married the lady of his dreams, and together, they raised four children. He was a man of integrity and had a heart full of love. He loved all of his family with a passion, from aunts and uncles to nephews and nieces. His love had no boundaries. Everyone that knew him knew a true friend, a man of integrity, a man of God, and a true friend. To our hero, "We Love You!" Mr. Menges was preceded in death by his father, Earl Menges; mother, Winnie Menges; sister, "Ailleen" Alcorn; and one loved son, Karl Menges. He left behind his best friend and loving wife of 56 years, Betty Menges of Longview; and a family that includes a daughter, Kathie Boulware of San Angelo; son, Danny and wife, Tonja, of Longview; son, John Eric and wife, Tammy Menges, of Liberty City; and a daughter-in-law, Laura Menges of San Angelo. Mr. Menges is also survived by 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Winston Menges of Odessa. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday evening, October 20, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home. Please leave online condolences at www.Raderfuneralhome.com.
