Males, Iva Fern "Jo" Iva Fern "Jo" Males went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 16, 2007. She was born January 3, 1916, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Louis Samuel and Lorena May Gray Heizer. She was instrumental in starting the School for Little Children at First United Methodist Church in Longview, where she taught for many years. She also did volunteer work at Good Shepherd Medical Center. She was an avid traveler. Her journeys took her to Russia to distribute bibles; Israel, Europe, Alaska, and her favorite place on earth, Hawaii, which she considered paradise. Now she really is in paradise. She was a caring, loving and generous woman, who loved her Lord, church, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Males; her parents; a granddaughter, Jenny Rebecca Ward; and two brothers, Dana and Chick Heizer. She is survived by daughter, Judy Kirby and husband, Johnny; daughter, P.J. Flanders and husband, Robert; son, Dana Males and daughter-in-law, Melissa Males; four grandsons, James, David, Dana Wayne and Andy; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Gavin and Garrett; one sister-in-law, Sue LaGrone; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Akin and wife, Georgie, and James Males and wife, Sue. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Cypress Basin Hospice, 207 W. Morgan, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455; or First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 659, Mt. Vernon, TX 75457.
