Mayfield, Elmer Arthor CARTHAGE - Services for Elmer Arthor "Red" Mayfield, 77, of Beckville, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007, at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lynn Ogden and Norman Mayfield officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Mayfield died August 6, 2007, in Longview. Born May 24, 1930, in Marshall, he was retired from the U.S. Air Force and KEES Radio. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Briley Mayfield; daughters, June Kay Grattan, Ruth Ann Parker, Sandy Jane Garcia, Deborah Lynn Guillotte, Briley Gaza Dailey and Glynna Goza Reser; brother, Jack Booth; and sisters, Dottie Rostawicki and Cindy Lou Ilharreguy. Mr. Mayfield died August 6, 2007, in Longview. Elmer Arthor "Red" Mayfield was born May 24, 1930, in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas. He was the son of Hazel Morris and Elmer Cleveland Mayfield. He had lived in the Beckville area for 35 years after retiring from the U.S. Air Force on October 1, 1958. Mr. "Red" Mayfield worked as a salesman and radio announcer at KEES Radio in Gladewater until 1977, when he retired. He was preceded in death by his son, Elmer A. Mayfield Jr.; daughter, Linda Mayfield Jennings; brother, Billy Joe Mayfield; sister, Elmarie Mayfield Flenniken; mother, Hazel Morris Mayfield Booth; father, Elmer Cleveland Mayfield; and stepfather, John Booth. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Gloria Briley Mayfield of Beckville; six daughters, June Kay Grattan of Utah, Ruth Ann Parker and husband, Lance of Huntington, Sandy Jane Garcia of Pampa, Deborah Lynn Guillotte and husband, Rick of Jacksonville, Briley Gaza Dailey and husband, Bill of Beckville, Glynna Goza Reser and husband Kevin of San Antonio; son-in-law, Stephen Jennings of Tatum; brother, Jack Booth and wife, Jo Ann of Beckville; sisters, Dottie Rostawicki of Pineville, La., and Cindy Lou Ilharreguy of California; sister- in-law, Bertha Mayfield of Santa Fe, N.M., and Jackie Shipman and husband, Jimmy of Stephenville; uncle, Dennis Mayfield and wife, Nell of Marshall; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wanner, Jake Jones, Charlie Dailey, Alan Parker, Jeromy Anderson and Travis Wayne Reser. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Jennings, Justin Booth, Robert Watson and Eric Christian.
