Melton, Vic M. KILGORE - Services for Vic M. Melton, 55, of Kilgore, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Kilgore, with the Rev. Harry LaGrone and the Rev. Jason Butte officiating. Burial will immediately follow services. Mr. Melton died August 5, 2007, in Rusk County. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at the funeral home. "Grampy" Melton, 55, of Kilgore, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Harry LaGrone and the Reverend Jason Butte officiating. Burial will follow services. Mr. Melton died Sunday, August 5, 2007, in Rusk County. He was born April 11, 1952, in Tyler. Mr. Melton was an independent Hotshot Driver. Vic was a member of the Victory Road Baptist Church. He had also worked as a machinist and in maintenance at Gen-Pak for 20 years. He always had his poodle, Jack with him everywhere he went. Vic had a big heart and never met a stranger. He was always the first to lend a hand and the last to leave once the job was finished. Vic worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and just being outdoors. Mr. Melton will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Vic is survived by his wife, Sally Melton of Kilgore; mother, Peggy Melton of Longview; grandmother, Arlene Jones of Murchison; five children and spouses, Chris Melton of Lake O' the Pines, Misty and Heath Hill of Arp, Peggy and Garrett Smith of Diana, Dale Pace of Kilgore, and Brenda Herring and Michael Stroud of Kilgore; one sister, Tammy Gibson of Longview; two brothers, Rick Melton of Lake Palestine, and Lance Melton of East Mountain; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
