Mangrum, Roddy Services for Roddy Mangrum, 60, of Longview, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery. Mr. Mangrum passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007, at his home with his family after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma. Mr. Mangrum was born October 3, 1946, in Tempe, Arizona, to David Crockett and Birdie Louise Rinks Mangrum. He worked for the Longview News-Journal for more than 20 years and was most recently the senior district manager in the circulation department. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Mr. Mangrum was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 404 and a 32nd Degree Mason. He achieved a second degree Blackbelt in Isshin-Ryu Karate. He enjoyed participating in family activities with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Mangrum is survived by his wife, Barbara Mangrum of Longview; son, Shane Mangrum; daughter, Kelli Mestas; daughter-in law, Jessica Mangrum; and son-in-law, Pete Mestas, all of Longview; grandchildren, Braydon and Ashlee Mangrum, and Taylor Mestas; mother, Birdie Louise Mangrum of Longview; sister, Donna Wiley, also of Longview; and numerous other family members. Pallbearers will be Shawn Stowe, Joe Gravely, Billy McLester and Eric Buck. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Koya and the staff at the Longview Cancer Center for their care during Roddy's illness.
