Funeral services for Elna Faye Mathis, 79, of Longview, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with the Reverend Roddy Bland officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. Faye was born February 6, 1928, in Anson, to Charles and Inez Light. Loved and appreciated by many, Faye will be remembered for the kindness and love she showed to her family and many friends. Faye was very involved for years with the Eastern Star. Faye was deeply loved by her grandsons, Chuck Harrell of Fort Worth and Travis Jones of Austin; as well as family, friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Inez Light; husband, Austin Alvin Matthis; daughter, Mary Faye Matthis Hobbs; sons, Lynn Matthis and Travis Matthis; brothers, Charles Leonard Light, Jesse Williard Light, William Doyle Light and Olvis Preston Light; and sister, Berry Joyce Latham. Survivors are her grandsons, Chuck Harrell and Travis Jones; brothers, Carrol Edward Light and wife, Betty, and James Durwood Light and wife, Bernadette; sister, Gladys Mozelle Bland; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Light Wooten and Jenoice Light; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Texas Hospice House, 1111 Summitt Ave., Fort Worth TX 76102, which provided loving care and support during Faye's last days.
