SMITH COUNTY - FRIENDSHIP CEMETERY >From the Winnsboro News, dated 20 Aug 1959: B. D. McRae, 70, former local resident, dies B. D. McRae, 70, former resident of Winnsboro and brother of Mrs. George Kennemer of Pleasant Grove, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, of a heart attack at his home in Gladewater. Mr. McRae was born in Alabama November 5, 1888 and moved to Texas in 1900. In 1913 he was married to Miss Ethel Mae Crawford [sic] of Winnsboro. He moved from here about 27 years ago. Mr. McRae was a farmer. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Aug. 13, at Friendship Baptist Church near Gladewater with Rev. Steve Dittmore, church pastor, officiating. Interment was in Friendship Cemetery. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Oddis and Mouzon McRae of New Orleans, La., Henry McRae, Dallas, Charles McRae, Gladewater and Billy James McRae in Germany with the U.S. Army; two daughters, Mrs. R.M. Gill, Monroe, La. and Mrs. B.G. Murphy, Beaumont. One son, Maynard, was burned to death in an automobile accident last year in San Bernardino, Calif. Besides Mrs. Kennemer, he is survived by three other sisters, Mrs. Ernest Guttinger, Dallas, Mrs. Bud Lloyd, Ft. Worth, and Mrs. W.B. Douglas, Farmington, N. Mex.; one brother, Pat McRae of Dallas, and a number of other relatives in this area. Attending the funeral from Winnsboro were Mr. and Mrs. Ike Kennemer, R.H. McCrary, Mrs. Sallie Farr, Bruce Lloyd and Lee Taylor.
