Motsinger, Rev. Samuel M. KILGORE - Services for the Rev. Samuel M. Motsinger, 82, of Lake Cherokee, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Elderville Cemetery. The Rev. Motsinger passed away Sunday, October 7, 2007, in Longview. The Rev. Motsinger was born April 2, 1925, in Williamson County, Illinois, to Marion and Mae Doss Motsinger, deceased. He attended school in Crab Orchard, Illinois. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served in World War II from August of 1943 to January of 1946. The Rev. Motsinger worked for the United States Postal Service. He was ordained January 27, 1957, as a Southern Baptist minister, who served churches mainly in Southern, Ill. The Rev. Motsinger served on the state board of the Illinois Southern Baptist Convention from 1973 until 1979. He also participated in the Baptist Crusades of America in Jamaica on December 29, 1969. The Rev. Motsinger moved to Texas in 1988 after retiring from the Ministry. His sister, Dorothy Jane Motsinger, preceded Rev. Motsinger in death. His wife of 62 years, Jean Motsinger of Lake Cherokee; son, Richard Motsinger of Peoria, Ill.; daughter and son-in-law Judi and John Morgan of Lake Cherokee; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends survive him. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, 5041 Estes Pkwy., Longview, TX 75603.
