Newland, William Harold William Harold Newland passed away peacefully at a local hospital Friday, February 10, 2006, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 1, 1924, in Naples. After graduation from Linden High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he moved to Longview and attended what is now LeTourneau University and began his career at the R.G. LeTourneau Company, where he worked until his retirement 38 years later. Harold is survived by his wife, Minnie; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jane; grandchildren, Jeff and Kristi, Greg and Jenelle, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Lauren Paige, Jacob Michael and William Aidan; brother, James E. "Bud" Jones; sister-in-law, Alice Haynes; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Imogene and Bill Ames; and brother-in-law, W.A. Watson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Full military honors will be provided by Longview VFW Post No. 4002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association, P.O.
