Owens, Charles

Charles Owens was born December 2, 1928, in Greenville, 
to Johnny N. Owens and Rita Bea Standifer Owens. He passed 
away on February 11, 2008, at a medical center in Longview.

He moved to Longview at the age of two years old. He attended 
Longview schools and worked for the Texas and Pacific Railroad 
before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1948. He served his 
country for 36 months. After leaving the service, he became a 
resident of Dallas, where he continued working for the railroad. 
In 1968, he went into business for himself as a manufacturer's 
representative, selling baby furniture and clothing for the 
factories.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth 
Coker Owens; his daughter, Kristen Carey; and grandson, Noah 
Carey.

He is survived by his wife, Patty McCarthy Owens of Longview; 
and a son, Ken Owens of Dallas.
