Peace, Douglas M. Douglas Martel Peace, 77 of Kilgore, died Saturday, September 30, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Magnolia, Arkansas, July 17, 1929, to Thomas and Carrey Peace. Douglas served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1955. He loved cooking and fishing and was the assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 265 for six years. Douglas worked at Tri-State Oil Tool for 46 years and was a member of Laird Hill United Methodist Church. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Lila Peace of Kilgore; sons, Douglas "Marty" Peace Jr. of Kilgore, and Mickey Peace and wife, Sandi, of Leverettes Chapel; grandchildren, Dawn, Mikki, Bradley and Joshua Peace; stepgrandchildren, Mike Shepherd, Pam Shepherd and Katie Page; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ware of Hanesville, Louisiana. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gertrude Cox and Elizabeth Smith; and brother, Merrel Peace. The family will receive friends today from 4-6 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 2, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Dudley Plaisance will officiate.
