Padgett, William Nelson Graveside services for William Nelson Padgett, 84, of Longview, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at Memory Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Padgett was born January 29, 1923, Jacksonville, Fla., and he died March 7, 2007, in Longview. Padgett Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at Memory Park in Longview. Mr. Padgett was born January 29, 1923, in Jacksonville, Florida, and he was raised in Savannah, Georgia. After four years of honorable service in the U.S. Navy during World War II (Pacific theater), Bill went on to achieve the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army while in Korea from 1949-1952. As a claims adjuster, he stayed with The Hartford for 20 years and was thereafter employed as a paralegal for Corpus Christi attorney Anthony Constant with the Edwards & Perry Law Firm until retirement in 1986. Bill is survived by his only son, Thomas Nelson Padgett, and is himself survived by daughters, Tracey Phillips and Terri Fields, their husbands Marc Phillips and Jerry Fields; grandsons, Andrew and Taylor Fields; and oving wife of 49 years, Billie Ford Padgett. Bill's immediate and extended family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Longview Regional Medical Center for their tender care, support and understanding through a trying time.
